
Canadian coloratura soprano Kathleen Morrison is a young operatic talent based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Known equally for her powerful voice and dramatic abilities, Kathleen has enjoyed performing some of opera's most beloved heroines including Olympia in Offenbach’s Les Contes d!Hoffmann, Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata, Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, and Adele in J. Strauss’ Die Fledermaus.
Currently, Miss Morrison is expanding her repertoire to include the Mozart heroines Konstanze from Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Die Königen der Nacht from Die Zauberflöte, and Donna Anna from Don Giovanni.
This year, Kathleen will be awarded her Artist’s Diploma in Opera Performance from the Vancouver Academy of Music after earning a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Lethbridge.
Kathleen was recently selected as a laureate of the 2010 Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques, and was the only one selected from the West Coast. She currently studies with renowned tenor, Mr. David Meek.
In 2008, Kathleen traveled to Germany where she participated in a very successful concert series and studio program. She was delighted to be asked to return the following summer for another round of performances for a very receptive, and appreciative audience.
Miss Morrison just finished a successful run as Nerone in Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di Poppea with the Vancouver Academy of Music’s Opera Studio. Her upcoming performances include La Fée in Dragon Diva Operatic Theatre’s production of Massenet’s Cendrillon in late August, Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata, and Konstanze in Mozart’s DieEntführung aus dem Serail.
